About this file

This document is a Title VI Assurances document from the U.S. Department of Transportation, applicable to federal-aid transportation contracts between an agency and a consultant. The document outlines nondiscrimination requirements and legal obligations for consultants performing work under federal transportation contracts, specifically detailing compliance regulations related to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and subsequent related statutes.

The assurances comprehensively outline nondiscrimination provisions, including prohibitions against discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, and disability. The document requires consultants to include these nondiscrimination provisions in all sub-agreements and procurements, and provides mechanisms for enforcement, such as potential sanctions including withholding payments, contract cancellation, or suspension. The assurances also reference multiple federal statutes and executive orders, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Civil Rights Restoration Act, and Executive Orders addressing environmental justice and access for persons with limited English proficiency.
