About this file
This is an attachment to a Request for Proposal (RFP 1100 MMH3047) for large industrial motor repairs issued by Austin Energy and Austin Water in Texas. The attachment specifies the technical requirements for Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) treatment, which is a critical process for treating form windings of electrical motors. The VPI process consists of nine sequential steps: a three-hour preheat at 250 degrees Fahrenheit, de-aeration of resin in the reservoir to 1mm, cooling the stator to 70-100 degrees Fahrenheit, placing the stator in a chamber and pulling vacuum to 1mm, impregnating while holding vacuum for one hour, pressurizing the chamber at 80-100 psi for one hour, depressurizing and draining, curing for five hours at 300 degrees Fahrenheit, and repeating the entire process. The document requires the contractor to supply the necessary materials and equipment and specifies approval by Austin Energy upon completion.
The attachment does not address pricing terms, set-asides, incumbent information, funding sources, or contract renewal options. Instead, it functions as a technical specification document that establishes the precise procedural and temperature requirements contractors must follow when performing VPI treatment on motors for the two municipalities. Contractors submitting bids are expected to demonstrate their capacity to execute this specialized industrial motor repair process according to these exact parameters.
