About this file
This is a sample work scope attachment for a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by Austin Energy and Austin Water for large industrial motor repairs. The document defines the minimum work activities and documentation requirements for the reconditioning of a 500 horsepower GE motor (Model 5K80114300507, Serial No. 284001973) located at the South Austin Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. The motor specifications include a rated voltage of 4160 volts, 63.0 amperage, 716 RPM, 3-phase operation, continuous duty rating, and a maximum ambient temperature of 50 degrees Celsius with sleeve bearing configuration and TEFC enclosure. The reconditioning scope encompasses motor pickup and delivery, complete disassembly, mechanical and mechanical surface inspection, bearing tolerance verification, comprehensive cleaning, stator testing using Baker Hipotronics hipot and surge testing or PDMA methodology, insulation resistance testing, inherent protection device testing, dip and bake winding treatment, rotor balancing to 4W/N tolerance, rotor bar integrity verification, rotor straightness inspection, bar swedging, full reassembly, and operational testing including full-voltage and no-load current testing. Additionally, the contractor must furnish two platinum bearing resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) with holders and one new GE power factor capacitor bank rated at 125 KVAR, 4160 volts, 3-phase, 60 Hz due to damage to the existing capacitor bank.
Bidders are required to submit a total lump sum price for this work scope as category 3, line item 3.3 on the pricing sheet, accompanied by a separate itemized breakdown detailing all fees included in the lump sum proposal. The sample work scope assumes the motor does not require a complete rewind, which is excluded from the scope of work. No information regarding specific response dates, due dates, site visits, bidder conferences, award dates, contract term, pricing terms, set asides, or funding sources is provided in this sample work scope document.

RFP 1100 MMH3047
LARGE INDUSTRIAL MOTOR REPAIRS FOR AUSTIN ENERGY AND AUSTIN WATER
ATTACHMENT M
SAMPLE WORK SCOPE #7 – SOUTH AUSTIN REGIONAL MOTOR RECONDITIONING
This sample work scope defines the minimum work activities and documentation required for the reconditioning of an existing 500 HP GE motor for Austin Water at the South Austin Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. The motor is GE Model 5K80114300507, Serial No. 284001973, rated 500 HP, 716 RPM, 4160 Volts, 63.0 Amps, 3 Phase, Frame 8011S, TEFC enclosure, continuous duty, with a maximum ambient temperature of 50 degrees C.
The Contractor shall provide motor pickup from the Austin Water site and delivery back to the site. Reconditioning shall include disassembly; mechanical inspection; verification that both sleeve bearings are within tolerance;
inspection of machined surfaces for proper fit; cleaning of all parts; stator testing using Baker Hipotronics hipot and surge testing or PDMA; testing insulation resistance to ground and phase-to-phase; testing the inherent protection device; dip and bake of the winding; rotor balancing to 4W/N tolerance; checking for open bars and high-resistance welds; checking rotor straightness; swedging rotor bars; reassembly; full-voltage operational testing; no-load current testing at full voltage; and furnishing two platinum bearing RTDs with holders.
The Contractor shall also provide one new GE power factor capacitor bank rated 125 KVAR, 4160 Volts, 3 Phase, 60 Hz, because the incoming capacitor bank was shorted and damaged. This sample assumes the motor does not require a rewind.
Insert total lump sum price on pricing sheet category 3 line item 3.3. Include a separate sheet with an itemized breakdown of all fees included in the lump sum.
