GENERAL MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
1. EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION
The Model LTA-24/1 Heat Exchanger is an electrically powered, air cooled, self-contained liquid to air heat exchanger. The LTA-24/1 system is designed to provide 18,510 W of heat dissipation at maximum coolant supply temperature of 60°C (140°F).

HEAT EXCHANGER CHECK
MATERIAL/TEST EQUIPMENT REQUIRED (or equivalent)
Filter F1 P/N: R3F050 FSN: 4330-01-420-5652 Filter F2 P/N: MROX-B FSN: 4610-00-363-5770
NOTE
This check will confirm proper operation of the transmitter water coolant system.
1. Resistivity should be more than 1 Megohm. If not replace the Demineralizer Cartridge (F2).
2. Supply Pressure should be greater than 90 psi. If not check Strainer F3 is clogged. If clear replace the Filter Element F1.
3. Return Temperature should be less than 110°.
4. Supply Temperature should be 2° to 4° less than Return.
5. Total Coolant Flow should be 16 GPM ± 2. If not check Strainer F3 is clogged. If clear replace the Filter Element F1.
6. At the Reservoir Site Glass, coolant level < 3” down.

MONTHLY INSPECTION AND CLEANING
Vacuum Cleaner
1. Check air inlet and outlet openings for obstructions. All obstructions to free air flow must be removed in order to maintain proper cooling.
2. Check cooling coil. If coil is dirty, cleaning following manner:
a. Turn off power to the unit.
b. Use a stiff bristled brush and vacuum cleaner to remove large particles of dust and dirt.
c. Spray the cooling coil with water. Remove nozzle from the water hose before spraying the coil.
3. Check for worn or loose fan belts, replace if worn, and tighten if loose.

FILTER REPLACEMENT
Filter F1 P/N: R3F050, FSN: 4330-01-420-5652
1. Ensure transmitter is off at load center, following “cool down complete” indicated on transmitter screen, if transmitter was previously on.
2. At the Transmitter heat exchanger, turn off CB1, labeled “Main Circuit
Breaker” behind left-hand front panel.
3. Remove front, left, and right cover panels from unit.
4. Rotate the two large yellow lever-handled ball valves near the input and output of the filter, to off to isolate water flow to/from the filter.
5. Verify strainer F3 is not clogged.
6. Replace the Filter Element F1 (long silver tube housing) per the following instructions:
a. Loosen filter housing clamp.
b. Remove filter housing plug on opposite end of filter housing clamp.
c. Pull out filter housing and filter from unit.
d. Remove old filter and replace with new one while filter housing is vertically oriented. Ensure that filter media is centered and seated completely on closed end of housing, with center tube inserted into hollow center of filter media.
e. Re-install filter housing while ensuring filter remains in position in housing.
f. Install filter housing plug and secure housing clamp.
g. Normalize the valves rotated in STEP 4 to allow coolant flow through the filter.
7. Remove the bleeder valve plug and with a drain bucket ready in hand, rotate the bleeder valve CCW a few turns, capturing any leakage into the bucket.
8. With main radar system power on, turn on CB1 (main breaker on heat exchanger) while capturing bleeder valve output in the bucket and adjusting the bleeder valve output as needed to control the flow. Shut off valve after no air is seen in bleeder valve output and pump cavitation noises cease.
Note:
If heat exchanger pump loud noises (cavitation noises) persists after bleeding the air out, filter media positioning will need to be checked to ensure it’s not blocking the center tube at closed end of housing.
9. Top off heat exchanger reservoir as required with a 50/50 mix of clear ethylene glycol and water to maintain a fluid level on the reservoir sight glass 1 inch below top of glass.
10. Check unit for leaks and resolve as needed.
11. Re-install cover panels.
