TEST SET, INTERFACE, POWER

PART NUMBER 3456AS300-1. The purpose of the Power Interface Test Set (PITS) is to operate and test the A/A 42R-1 Aerial Refueling Store (ARS) at the Organizational and Intermediate level. It can be used regardless of whether or not the ARS is installed on an aircraft. While installed on an aircraft, the ARS main store connector, J201 is disconnected from the aircraft umbilical and the PITS is connected directly to the store, bypassing all aircraft wiring. The PITS was developed for use at the organizational level, but can also be used to operate the ARS at the intermediate level in place of the A/E 24T-200 I-level test set. The PITS does not have the component level test capability of the A/E 24T-200 I-level test set, but is fully functional to operate the ARS as a system.

24. The Power Interface Test Set (PITS) is an electronics box assembly that contains a front panel, power supply, switches, indicators, and wiring required to operationally test the ARS and control panel.

A power adapter, power cable, and a grounding cable are provided in the lid of the case. An ARS jumper cable assembly part

1 December 2000 Page 4 number 3456AS100-2 is required to connect the PITS to the ARS.

25. LEADING PARTICULARS.

26. Dimensions:

Height 18 in Width 12 in Depth 13 in Weight 26 lbs

27. Physical Description. The top cover of the PITS contains a power adapter, power cable, and a grounding cable. The lower portion of the case contains the test set.

28. All of the connectors, switches, and indicators of the test set are mounted on the front panel assembly. The front panel components include:

! Ground Stud, J1 ! Connector, Power, 115VAC, J2 ! Connector, ARS, J3 ! Circuit Breaker, CB1 ! Switch, Power, S1 ! Switch, Lamp Test, S2 ! Indicator Lamp, 115 VAC power, DS1

! Indicator Lamp, 28 VDC power, DS2 ! Indicator Lamp, 15 VDC power, DS3 ! Indicator Lamp, Fuel Transfer, DS4 ! Indicator Lamp, Fuel Transfer, DS5 ! Indicator Lamp, Drogue Stowed, DS6

29. CAPABILITIES.

30. The electronics box assembly contains the equipment required to simulate the aircraft functions to operate an ARS and control panel. The test set connector J2 connects to external power facility 115 VAC 400Hz single-phase power. It contains a power converter to create 28VDC (nominal) and supplies AC and DC power to the ARS.

The lamp test switch S2 verifies that all indicator lamps are operational. The drogue stowed lamp DS6 indicates when the Drogue Stowage Sensor is providing a STOWED signal. Fuel transfer switches on the PITS exercise the ARS fuel transfer circuits and lamps DS4 and DS5 indicate status of the transfer circuits. The Front Panel is shown in Figure 1, which also provides item reference, nomenclature, and function for each item.
