21. Detail C3 on Sheet A-612 references an embedded steel plate for the header of exterior windows, but no plate is shown. Please advise if this plate needs to be provided and if so, the material and size of the plate.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

22. Specification Sections 03 30 00 – Cast-In-Place Concrete and 03 45 33 – Precast and Prestressed Structural Concrete list various supplementary cementitious material such as fly ash, blended cements, slag cement, silica fume, ultra-fine fly ash and regular and ultra-fine pozzolan for the concrete mix. These sections also list several admixtures. Please confirm that use of these materials is the Contractor’s option and is not a mandatory requirement.

23. For the 4 types of concrete mixes listed in Paragraph 2.5.1 of Specification Section 03 30 00

– Cast-In-Place Concrete (footings, CIP columns/walls, slabs-on-grade, concrete toppings), please confirm that the 5000 psi concrete (CIP columns/walls, concrete toppings) are both classified as C2 exposure class as per the table for Corrosion and Chloride Content in Paragraph 2.5.2.2.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

24. All concrete mixes listed in Paragraph 2.5.1 of Specification Section 03 30 00 – Cast-In- Place Concrete have a maximum w/cm ratio of 0.4 and a minimum psi of at least 4000. Thus, none of these concrete mixes appear to match the descriptions of those in the sulfate resistance table in Paragraph 2.5.2.3. Please advise on exposure class requirements.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

25. All concrete mixes listed in Paragraph 2.5.1 of Specification Section 03 30 00 – Cast-In- Place Concrete have a maximum w/cm ratio of 0.4 and a minimum psi of at least 4000. Thus, none of these concrete mixes appear to match the descriptions of those in the concrete permeability table in Paragraph 2.5.2.5. Please advise on concrete permeability requirements.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

26. Specification Section 03 30 00, Paragraph 2.6.1 calls for ASTM A615 or A996 rebar, while reinforcing steel note B on Sheet S-003 calls for ASTM A706 rebar. Please confirm rebar material requirements.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

27. Sheet AE121, Overall Reflected Ceiling Plan, General Note C states to provide bird mitigation spanning the underside of roof over entire areas of ceiling. However, the entirety of the building is to be sprayed with polyurethane foam insulation with intumescent coating, and it is not clear on what bird mitigation would be provided here. Please advise if this note may be disregarded.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

28. It is understood that a continuous metal cleat and stainless steel flashing is required at the gables per Detail A4/Sheet A-601. Please confirm that this is not required at all lightning protections as shown on Detail B1 and only in areas where there is no gutter as per the gutter details B4 and A2 on Sheet A-601.

29. Please advise what specification section 10 14 00.20 – INTERIOR SIGNAGE covers. It is not believed that there are any interior signs to be provided on the project as the architectural drawings do not have any interior signage callouts or a signage schedule.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

30. Detail B1 on Sheet A-611 says to refer to Sheet A-203 for the location and specification for installation of the sign stating “AIRFIELD DAMAGE REPAIR WAREHOUSE”. This is not shown or specified on the elevation views on Sheets A-201 through A-203 nor called out on the floor plans. Please provide the location(s) of this sign

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

31. Detail A3/S-400 shows that the ground elevation outside of the mechanical yard is the same as the finish floor elevation. This conflicts with Detail A3/A-401. Please advise on which drawing takes precedence. This conflict also exists between the typical exterior precast wall section shown in Detail A1 on Sheet S-504 and the wall section details A1 and A3 on Sheet A-

311. This would slightly affect the amount of exposed concrete that would require EX-1 coating.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

32. The exterior finish schedule on Sheets A-201 through A-203 say that EX-1 is to be applied on the mechanical yard gate, but this is not called out on callout 410 on Sheet A-401. Please confirm that this chain link gate does not require elastomeric paint.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

33. Details A1-C1, A2-C2, A3-C3, and A5-C5 for the sill, jamb, and head for doors, rollup doors, windows, and louvers, respectively, either show that the elastomeric coating is not applied around the entire opening (in the case of doors, windows, and louvers), or show that this coating is applied around the entire opening and on the other side of the wall as well (in the case of the rollup doors). These details contrast with Details A3 and C3 for the precast openings for the louver and window, which show that the coating is applied around the entire opening. No similar detail is provided for the doors and rollup doors. Please advise on the extent of elastomeric coating to be applied at openings.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

34. No detail is provided for the openings for the mechanical equipment (supply fans) shown on the elevation views on Sheet A-203 (callout #228) or the overall roof plan on Sheet AE131 (callout #212). While a detail was provided for this on Sheet C1/M-501, this detail does not state anything about elastomeric coating EX-1 being applied. Please advise if the EX-1 coating needs to be applied around the perimeter of these openings.

35. Specification Section 07 57 12 – Liquid Applied Elastomeric Silicone Wall Coating, Paragraph 3.5.4 states that the elastomeric coating to be applied on exterior concrete/CMU is to have a 60 mil DFT with 20 mils for each of the 3 coats. This conflicts with Specification Section 09 90 00 – Paints and Coatings, Paragraph 3.11.1, which states that the system DFT is only 16 mils on both new concrete and CMU. Please provide the correct DFT.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

36. The Division 4: Exterior Concrete Masonry Units Paint Table in Paragraph 3.11.1 of Specification Section 09 90 00 – Paints and Coatings lists new concrete masonry on uncoated surface receiving either latex or an elastomeric coating. It is understood based on the plans that all CMU is to receive elastomeric coating. Please advise if this is correct.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

37. No manufacturers are listed on the exterior finish schedule on Sheets A-201 through A-203.

Please advise if choice of manufacturer is at the contractor’s option.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

38. Please advise what Specification Section 09 96 00 – High-Performance Coatings covers, as it is believed that both exterior and interior painting that is part of both the base bid and Option Item No. 2 are covered by Specification Section 09 90 00 – Paints and Coatings.

ANSWER: Response is deferred.

39. Please provide additional information on the interior painting (CLIN 0003; Option Item No.

2) as follows:

a) Specification Section 09 90 00 – Paints and Coatings, Paragraph 1.12.1.2 states that exposed columns, girders, beams, joists, metal deck, and other contiguous surfaces are to be painted. Paragraph 3.11.2.A states that only new and uncoated existing concrete floors (slab on grade) are to be painted. This also contradicts the partial floor plans (AE102-AE105), General Note D, which states that the floor is to be sealed concrete. Please confirm the full scope of interior concrete painting.

b) Specification Section 09 90 00 – Paints and Coatings, Paragraph 1.12.3 states that mechanical and electrical painting are a part of Option Item No. 2, while the Division 5 paint table in Paragraph 3.11.2 does not. Please advise if interior mechanical and electrical painting is part of Option Item No. 2 or the base bid.

c) The overall reflected ceiling plan, callout #334, states that polyurethane foam insulation with intumescent coating is to be applied on the bottom of all exposed precast double tees.

Please confirm that this does not require any interior painting covered by Specification

Section 09 90 00 – Paints and Coatings, which as stated above in part (a) requires girders, beams, and joists to be painted.

d) Neither the plans nor specifications, to the best of our knowledge, provide a color or manufacturer for any interior painting. Please advise on paint color requirements.

40. It seems that the only CMU for the project is the breeze block at the equipment yard window openings. Please advise if field quality control testing (field testing of mortar, grout) is required per Specification Section 04 20 00 – Unit Masonry, Paragraph 3.6 and if a special masonry inspector is still required per Paragraph 1.3.1 and Specification Section 01 45 35 – Special Inspections.

41. Please advise if the exposed precast tee girders also require the polyurethane foam insulation with intumescent coating that will be applied to the underside of the precast concrete double tees.

There is no detail on the architectural drawings similar to that of C2 on Sheet S-510 or A3 on Sheet S-511 which might provide this information.

42. Please confirm that steel shims and non-shrink grout are also to be provided for Detail A1/S- 504, similar to details C2 and A2 on Sheet S-505.

43. Please advise on what precast wall detail should be followed on the foundation plan – Area A (SB102) for the precast wall that runs along Gridline E between Gridlines 1 and 2. It is presumed that a detail similar to C2/S-505 is to be followed, but with a wider 10’-0” footing. If so, please advise if only one rebar dowel needs to be provided to connect to the foundation per detail C2, or if an additional #4 dowel with a coupler needs to be provided similar to Detail A1, Sheet S-504.

File details come from the government source that posted it. Updated .
