ANSWER: Refer to Specification Sections 01 57 19.01 20 and 01 57 19.03.
96. Drawing (AMD 0003)/Section 01 14 00. Drawing 005 (GB-100), Free Zone Notes on drawing and Section 01 14 00, paragraph 1.3.f. Free Zone 1B – Are the 144 working days on drawing GB100 all the working days that will be allowed to construct the powered trailer maintenance facility? In other words, once the Free Zone 1B is set up in accordance with section 014 14 00 will it be required to be taken down upon the contractor expending 144 working days in Free Zone 1B? What is meant by “may be used during entire construction” duration?
ANSWER: The Contractor will have use/control of Free Zone 1B and Free Zone 3 for the entire construction period; AAFB/36 MUNS access to at least one end/vehicle entrance of the “DRIVE-THRU MUNITIONS STORAGE MAGAZINES” must be provided at all times.
97. Drawing (AMD 0003/Section 01 14 00. Drawing 005 (GB-100), Free Zone Notes on drawing and Section 01 14 00, paragraph 1.3.f. Free Zone 3 – Are the 178 working days on drawing GB100 all the working days that will be allowed to construct the two ECMs? In other words, once the Free Zone 3 is set up in accordance with section 014 14 00 will it be required to be taken down upon the contractor expending 178 working days in Free Zone 3 for the ECMs?
What is meant by “may be used during entire construction” duration?
ANSWER: The Contractor will have use/control of Free Zone 1B and Free Zone 3 for the entire construction period; AAFB/36 MUNS access to at least one end/vehicle entrance of the “DRIVE-THRU MUNITIONS STORAGE MAGAZINES” must be provided at all times.
98. Drawing (AMD 0003)/Section 01 14 00. Drawing 005 (GB-100), Free Zone Notes on drawing and Section 01 14 00, paragraph 1.3.f. Free Zone 3 – Are the 168 working days on drawing GB100 all the working days that will be allowed to construct the Missile Assembly Shop (MSA)? In other words, once the Free Zone 3 is set up in accordance with section 014 14 00 will it be required to be taken down upon the contractor expending 168 working days in Free Zone 3 for the ECMs? What is meant by “may be used during entire construction” duration?
ANSWER: The Contractor will have use/control of Free Zone 1B and Free Zone 3 for the entire construction period; AAFB/36 MUNS access to at least one end/vehicle entrance of the “DRIVE-THRU MUNITIONS STORAGE MAGAZINES” must be provided at all times.
99. Drawing (AMD 0003)/Section 01 14 00. Drawing 005 (GB-100), Free Zone Notes on drawing and Section 01 14 00, paragraph 1.3.f. In Zone 3 there are multiple work areas (e.g.
Roads, ECMs, MSA). Can each work are have its own Free Zone rather than one large Free Zone encompassing all of them? Can each work zone run concurrently?
ANSWER: The Contractor will have use/control of Free Zone 1B and Free Zone 3 for the entire construction period; AAFB/36 MUNS access to at least one end/vehicle entrance of the “DRIVE-THRU MUNITIONS STORAGE MAGAZINES” must be provided at all times.
100. Drawing 117 (S-002), Foundation Note K MASM and PTMX. Will concrete for the foundation’s grade beams on SB111 and SB131 be allowed to be cast against the earth rather than formed as indicated by Note K?
ANSWER: No. Form sides of foundation beams as indicated in MASM & PTMX Foundation Note L on Drawing S-002. Do not use earth forms.
101. Note A on A250 states that “Five identical ECM’s are being constructed as part of this project scope; refer to civil for ECM Site position and orientation”. CS100 shows only 2 ECM’s as part of this contract. Please confirm that only 2 ECM’s are to be constructed
ANSWER: Confirmed. Note A on Drawing A-250 will be revised to state “Two identical ECM’s are being constructed as part of this project scope…” in a forthcoming Amendment.
102. Reference Drawing Sheets S-002 & S-008, Notes P.1 states “Support the building on shallow spread footing and/or continuous footing resting on either the moderately hard to hard native coralline limestone or a layer of uniform, densely compacted limestone sand/gravel soil fill as recommended above.” A Specification Section 31 32 23, Foundation Drilling and Grouting is provided but no drill size, drill depth and number of hole per footing is provided.
Please clarify.
ANSWER: Foundation Note R on S-002 provides hole size, depth, and number of holes.
103. This project requires a large volume of excess excavated soil (approximately over 30,000 CY). Will there be a site on base where we can spread the excess excavated materials?
ANSWER: No.
104. HVAC Equipment Schedule, Sheet M-631 - PTMX HVAC Schedule. For area MS-3 SUPPORT 107 and MS-4 OFFICE 105, it is requesting for a 9k horizontal concealed. By horizontal concealed we can only assume that they will be talking about a ducted split as in the plans it does seem to be printed as a ducted split. However, we are not aware of any US manufacturer that offers any ducted split in this size as the CFM is not strong enough to push through a duct system. Is the space a specific space that requires it to be a ducted split? Is the space designed specifically for a ducted split? Or will a wall mount be a viable system to replace the ducted split with?
ANSWER: The space is designed to be a ducted split system, and a wall mounted system is not acceptable. Please provide ducted split system as specified.
105. HVAC CONTROLS, Sheet M-1801. Specification calls for DOAU and all HVAC Equipment be connected to a DDC control system. Is the purpose of this for full control of the systems via DDC panel or simply just "on" and "off" capabilities?
ANSWER: The DDC control system must provide full control as required by the Sequence of Operations on Drawing MI802.
106. Also noted in this controls portion is an ATFP Emergency HVAC shutdown switch. Does this mean a shutdown switch to shut down all the units at one time? Or for individual switches to shutdown each one separately?
ANSWER: The ATFP Emergency HVAC shutdown switch must shut down all the units at one time.
107. Specification 03 31 30, paragraph 2.7.1, Reinforcement. Reinforcing Bars. With all of the high grade reinforcing types such as Grade ASTM A276, SS bars; ASTM A767 Class 1 Galvanized, ASTM A955 Stainless Steel bars; ASTM A1035 MMFX2 bars; and ASTM A934 Epoxy coated, the fact that ASTM A615 bars with the marked “A” seems out of place with the exception of the phrase “…bars marked A”. Please clarify the significance of that phrase, and what it does to the nominal grading A615 black resteel.
ANSWER: Response is deferred and will be answered in a subsequent Notice.
