About this file
This document is a Summary of Work (Section 01 11 00) for a construction project at the Philadelphia Navy Yard Annex. The work involves demolishing existing slab-on-ground, pipe trenches, and piping, and constructing a new pile-supported reinforced concrete slab with T-slot flooring. The project requires careful utility location and marking, including obtaining digging permits, contacting local utility services, and using ground-penetrating radar to identify underground utilities. A third-party utility locating company must scan the construction site and mark underground utility locations before submitting shop drawings.
Key submittal requirements include a Location of Underground Utilities Plan marked with a "G" classification, requiring Government approval. The contractor must notify the Contracting Officer at least 15 days prior to starting excavation work. The project will take place in an occupied building, necessitating coordination with the Contracting Officer for access, material storage, and work sequencing. The contractor must ensure existing work is protected during construction and restored to equal or better condition upon completion.
