About this file
This document is a technical specification section (Section 13 50 00) for a T-Slot Floor system for the DDG(X) LBTS WP4: Shaftline Foundation project. The specification details requirements for a cast iron T-slot floor system, including base plates, anchor rods, and grouting. Key technical requirements include cast iron base plates complying with ASTM A48/A48M Class 40, a micro-finish of 63, and pre-grout flatness not exceeding 0.010". The system must support design loads indicated on drawings, with specific instructions for leveling, anchoring, and grouting.
The document outlines detailed submittal requirements, including shop drawings, product data, and design calculations that require government approval. Installation specifications mandate precise leveling techniques, with plates to be leveled using equipment capable of measuring increments of 0.001", and post-installation requirements including cleaning, rust inhibitor application, and creation of as-built drawings in PDF and AutoCAD formats. The contractor must coordinate with the Contracting Officer throughout the installation process, including elevation surveys and final acceptance of the T-slot flooring system.

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE
1.3.1 Manufacturer Qualifications
T-slot floor manufacturer and installer must have experience in designing, providing, and installing at least 3 similar systems.
1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
Setting of test bases must include handling techniques that will assure no permanent distortion or breaking or cracking of the plate. When resting on any surface, an overall flatness of 1/4" must be maintained. Lift through the use of a series of lifting brackets to distribute the load over at least 1/2 the length of base using (2) third points on each longitudinal side as centerline for the load spread.
Submit a handling and installation plan that details how the bases will be handled, stored, and installed.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Provide all design, assemblies, components, shipping, and installation required to provide a completed cast iron T-slot floor system, including but not limited to the following: Slotted cast iron base plates, cast-in-place anchor rods and anchor templates, leveling accessories, and grout.
Provide floor system capable of resisting design loads indicated herein and on the Drawings.
2.2 PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
2.2.1 Design Loads
Design T-slot floor system to support the loads indicated on the Drawings, with the exception of the 100 kip concentrated loads. When combining equipment weights with torque loads for uplifit load cases, use equipment weights on Drawings indicated as 'Used for Uplift Load Cases'. Submit design calculations stamped and sealed by a registered professional engineer.
Coordinate anchor embedment depth with supporting concrete slab thickness and minimum clear cover requirements shown on the Drawings.
2.3 T-SLOT BASE PLATES
Submit floor system shop drawings for approval
Provide cast iron base plates complying with ASTM A48/A48M Class 40, meeting the specified design requirements.
Provide T-slot plates with a micro-finish of 63.
Provide pre-grout flatness over the entire T-slot floor area not exceeding 0.010".
SECTION 13 50 00 Page 2
Refer to the Drawings for location, thickness, extents, and geometry of T-slot base plates.
Provide leveling installers to be used in conjunction with anchor rods for coaxial leveling and hold-down. Locate the points for leveling and anchoring as per each base plate's respective drawings and the specified performance criteria and geometry shown on the Drawings. Provide flush-mounted covers for each anchor bolt pocket.
Join plates that are part of an assembly with fasteners accessible through connecting pockets at the mating surfaces. Provide flush-mounted covers for each connecting pocket.
Provide T-slots fully machined to comply with dimensions and requirements listed on the Drawings. Provide spacing and direction of T-slots as indicated on the Drawings.
2.4 ANCHOR RODS
Provide cast-in-place anchors, nuts, washers, bearing plates and containment structure. Provide anchor rod spacing, diameter, and embedment as necessary to resist the specified design loads. Coordinate anchor rod installation requirements with Contractor and reinforcing steel subcontractor.
2.5 GROUT
Non-shrink, Non-Metallic grout meeting ASTM C1107/C1107M . Proportioning and mixing must be done strictly according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 ANCHORING
Coordinate location and placement of cast-in-place anchors and reinforcing steel in supporting concrete slab with T-slot floor manufacturer, installer, and concrete subcontractor. Provide anchors cast to within 1/4" of specified locations and within 1/8" of plumb over length of can.
Do not remove threaded stud from can when installing anchors. If removal of stud is necessary, take proper precautions to keep debris from falling in the can.
Pre-tension anchor rods to the required load 30 days after grouting.
3.2 LEVELING
Leveling techniques must be such as to achieve a high degree of accuracy and stability. Plate(s) must be leveled utilizing equipment capable of measuring increments of .001". Provide pre-grout flatness over the entire T-slot floor area not exceeding 0.010", and after-grout flatness over the entire T-slot floor area not exceeding 0.030".
Prior to final leveling of T-slot floor, perform an elevation survey of adjacent concrete slab submit the survey results. Coordinate final elevation of T-slot floor with Contracting Officer and manufacturer's supervisor.
SECTION 13 50 00 Page 3
Prior to grouting of the floor, perform and submit a pre-grout elevation survey of T-slot flooring to verify the pre-grout flatness and elevation criteria are met. Contracting Officer and Contractor must provide written pre-grout acceptance of the base plates upon completion of finish leveling and alignment.
3.3 GROUTING
Provide all required materials (including grout, mixers, pumps, hoses, air compressors and miscellaneous equipment) necessary to complete grouting operations. Pressure grout using equipment and techniques specifically designed to mix and pump grout under low psi filling all cavities between base plate and concrete slab. Top of concrete slab must be wetted down prior to grouting.
Coordinate disposal of washout material.
3.4 ACCEPTANCE
Upon Completion of grouting, plate cleaning and site-clean up confirm with Contracting Officer acceptance of the T-slot flooring system.
3.5 CLEANING
Clean plates and apply one coat of rust inhibitor after final grouting.
Reapply coating damaged during remaining construction activities.
3.6 AS-BUILT DRAWINGS
After acceptance of the T-slot flooring system, provide as-built drawings in PDF and AutoCAD showing size and extents of T-slot floor plate; size and location of T-slots; and size and location of anchor rods. Coordinate with the Contracting Officer for acceptable versions of AutoCAD.
