About this file
This document contains an amendment to a solicitation for fire protection repairs at a Naval Support Activity in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The amendment provides additional specifications including Section 27 10 00 on building telecommunications cabling. It responds to questions by confirming certain work is in scope, such as cabling installation in the modular building, and clarifying that the Navy will provide escorts throughout occupied areas and the contractor will not be responsible for escort costs. Drawings are also updated to include demolition notes for removing an electrical transformer and associated underground cables once the modular building is vacated.

Throughout the building carpeting and ceilings are being replaced. It appears that in some instances the occupant get moved to the modular building, but others remain in place. So is the government moving all furniture out of the areas of work to receive new carpet, ceilings, and sprinkler? Or do we have to move the furniture and/ or work around it? For those areas that may remain occupied, is the construction work allowed to occur during normal daytime construction hours, or do those areas have to be performed at night?

The documents indicate that the Navy will provide escorts. As the work occurs in multiple locations, are the escorts provided per a certain number of workers? Or are they stationed throughout the facility watching areas of work being performed? Please confirm that the contractor does not have to reimburse the Navy for the escort costs.

Regarding sheet E-147 of the 3 OF 3 drawings.
This is the for the modular building. Shall the NIPR/SIPR cabling be performed by the contractor? If so, can the government provide a specification for the types of horizontal cabling required for NIPR/SIPR?
