PROCEDURES FOR MAINTENANCE OF SYSTEMS CONNECTED TO
FLIGHTLINE FIRE LOOP
Before a contractor conducts any work on any flightline fire suppression systems, they must inform the FSC office and Air Station Fire Department:
Step 1 Inform FSC/Fire Department of work to be conducted and location .
Step 2 Determine the nature of the work.
Inform building tenant of work to be done.
Inform NREAO that work is being conducted.
Determine the location of the applicable isolation valves.
Step 3 Conduct Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) on the applicable valves (tags hung and verified by FSC/FD).
Step 4 Use secondary containment to catch spills (drain pan/bucket).
Ensure the correct spill kit mats are placed underneath and around the secondary containment.
Ensure secondary containment is of adequate size to contain potential discharge.
This is especially important on valve maintenance where a hose cannot be connected to drain the section being worked.
Step 5 Where able, use nipple and hose to drain AFFF into secondary container.
Step 6 Secondary container and spill kit mats will be collected and turned in to NREAO.
Step 7 After maintenance completion, contractor will remove LOTO tags.
Open/shut applicable valves.
Step 8 Restore system and inform customer.
