About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a federal contract solicitation for machine shop rapid prototyping services. The solicitation seeks proposals for the manufacture, assembly, inspection and delivery of machined prototypes and assemblies on an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity basis, with ordering periods of five years. Awards will be made on a firm-fixed-price basis to all qualifying offerors, with the total value of all delivery orders across all contracts not to exceed $50 million. This requirement from the Naval Sea Systems Command is set aside for small businesses. One question and answer clarify that part drawings should reflect consistent spacing of bolt hole slots.

Questions and Answers

PLEASE NOTE that the Technical Data Package is provided only to those Offerors that successfully complete the Solicitation instructions at L.4.3.

Q74: Regarding questions and answers where the government has provided allowance for deviations/changes from the drawings, as requested by various offerors: please confirm that sub‐ components manufactured and inspected IAW with the provided drawing package (rather than the deviations proposed by other offerors and accepted by the government) are considered acceptable. E.g.

if parts are manufactured and inspected per‐print and not IAW deviations, they will be considered acceptable. Currently we have some of the subcomponents manufactured complete and IAW the originally provided drawing package, future deviations to these parts could create complications for our completed parts if they are not considered as optional.

A74: The subcomponents need to be able to be assembled for the higher assembly. If the Offeror has manufactured subcomponents per the TDP and need to modify them to facilitate assembly, the Offeror should annotate that when submitted or the Offeror should remake the subcomponents.

Q75: In reference to Drawing sk101949, the offeror requests that the slot be elongated by .060. Specifically, for zone d3‐5 top bolt hole slots in cover are dim 2.645 and 3.553 with equal spacing of .908. The corresponding part is described in drawing sk101947 zone d3 which has spacing of .970. The results impact the alignment of the bolts for final assembly.

A75: Part #SK10947 should reflect 0.908 for spacing as well.
