About this file

This document contains a questions and answers file related to a federal solicitation for machine shop rapid prototyping services. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division is seeking proposals for multiple indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts for a period of five years for the rapid manufacture, assembly, inspection and delivery of machined prototypes and assemblies. The total value of all delivery orders under all awarded contracts shall not exceed $50 million. This is a small business set-aside solicitation that is not a follow-on to any current effort. Offerors must submit a sample part that is found technically acceptable by the government to be considered for award. The $500 listed under the first contract line item number will be used for a kickoff meeting and will be the first delivery order, and is not reimbursement for the cost to build the sample part.

Questions and Answers

PLEASE NOTE that the Technical Data Package is provided only to those Offerors that successfully complete the Solicitation instructions at L.4.3.

Q69. The pricing structure lists a cost or price of $500 under clin 0001, is this cost what you are proposing we charge for the sample or is this only for bid reference?

A69. The $500 will be used for a kick off meeting and will be Delivery Order 1 on an awarded Contract.

The $500 is not the cost to build the sample. The Government is not reimbursing the Offeror for the costs associated with building the sample.

Q70. If we decided not to build the sample part, would we still be considered for an award of the contract?

A70. No. Per Section L/M, the Offeror shall submit a sample part and the evaluation of the sample part must be found technically acceptable by the Government.
