About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a federal solicitation for Gun Weapon System components. The solicitation allows an offeror to use 12 gauge material where the print specifies 13 gauge, as 12 gauge material that is .102 thick falls within manufacturing tolerances and using 13 gauge material at the low thickness limit would result in an undersized part. Permission to use the 12 gauge material received is granted.

Questions and Answers

PLEASE NOTE that the Manufacturing Sample instruction is provided only to those Offerors that successfully complete the Solicitation instructions at L.2.2.1.A.

Q13. We need to address the material specification callout on P/N SK10149:

The drawing specifies .094 stock material. As per the chart provided, this material comes in gage thicknesses not fractional.

As you can see 13 gage material ranges from .0847-.0947 thick, and 12 gage ranges from .0986 to .1106 thick. We received the material at .102 thick which falls in the range per the manufactures standard gage chart for 12 gage stock. If we went to 13 gage material and it was manufactured to the low limit it would be undersize to the print.

We are asking for permission to use the 12 gage as received.

A13. 12 Ga. is fine.
