The underwater surfaces of the hull, including sea chests and appendages, shall be coated with a Tributyl
Tin (TBT)-free anti-fouling coating system. The anti-fouling coating system shall be International Paints
Intersleek 425 system, or any other MIL-PRF-24647 approved, copper-free, foul-release coating system.
The underwater surfaces including boottopping shall be painted gray in manufacturer’s standard color

TAA 1844-03, including amendments whose export is restricted by the AECA (22
USC 2751) or the EAC of 1979 (50 USC

The overhead horizontal surfaces of the vessel tunnel shall be coated with one (1) coat of Intergard 264
(RED) anticorrosive epoxy and one (1) coat of Intergard 264 (LIGHT GREY) anticorrosive epoxy. Surface preparation of the overhead horizontal surfaces of the vessel tunnel shall be achieved by mechanical abrasion to a cleanliness level equivalent to SSPC SP-11.
The main body vertical (above the boot top) of the vessel tunnel shall be coated with one (1) coat of
Intergard 264 (RED) anticorrosive epoxy, one (1) coat of Intergard 264 (LIGHT GREY) anticorrosive epoxy, and one (1) coat of Interlac 2 silicone alkyd (MIL-PRF-24635) in HAZE GREY (Federal Standard
Color Number 26270). Surface preparation of the main body vertical (above the boot top) of the vessel tunnel shall be abrasive blasting to a cleanliness level equivalent to SSPC SP-10 unless abrasive blasting is not practical due to access limitations. In restricted access areas, surface preparation may be achieved by mechanical abrasion to the afore mention standard.
Surface preparation for the unpainted surfaces of the hull form, including helicopter safety nets and mast, shall be abrasive blasting to a cleanliness level equivalent to SSPC SP-6 with a uniform matte finish, unless abrasive blasting is not practical due to access limitations. In restricted access areas, surface preparation may be achieved by mechanical abrasion to the aforementioned standard. These unpainted surfaces shall be left unfinished and allowed to oxidize naturally.
Surface preparation of joiner bulkheads shall be achieved by mechanical abrasion to a cleanliness level equivalent to SSPC SP-11.
Surface profiles shall be in accordance with the paint manufacturer’s recommendations and specifications.
With the exception of below-water line applications, the advanced corrosion control coatings, such as metallic and ceramic coatings, shall be protected by the utilization of identifiable markings to ensure that the corrosion control qualities of these coatings are not damaged or destroyed during ship construction. The
Contractor shall include in the ship's corrosion control plan the identification and location of all such advanced coatings.
Underwater hullcoating damage occuring on the perimeter of anode pockets during ship trials shall be repaired using an approved underwater epoxy coating applied in accordance with manufacturer's recommend procedures for aluminum hulls.
