SOLICITATION DOCUMENT N00019-15-R-0090 (Dated 16 April 2015) Answer
F1 Attach 1, SOW parag
3.4.1.1
Will the government consider a compromise to the required runway length if an approved arresting system is functional on an otherwise compliant runway of less than 8,000 feet in length?
While the presence of field arresting gear offers potential risk mitigation in certain emergency scenarios, field arresting gear may not be used during normal field operations and its presence does not reduce the minimum runway length requirement of 8,000 ft. In accordance with
Attachment 1, F/A-18A/B/C/D Contractor Depot
Level Maintenance Statement of Work, paragraph 3.4.1.1, the minimum runway length is
8,000 ft.
