Question Item Spec Section Questions
Q1 OD 3.4 Could you achieve significantly better results with regards to higher transmission and better color balancing if protection levels were only required in the central 45° cone angle?
Q2 Eyestrain 3.5.2.2 How does your company test Eyestrain/comfort over long periods of use?
Q3 Color Metric 3.5.2.3 The Navy desires a metric that will ensure a high degree of confidence in compatibility with color displays. Do you use any metrics for color perception/display compatibility that you think would be valuable to the Government? If so please provide details.
Q4 Off Axis Optics 3.6.1 What kind of optical quality, (e.g., prism, spherical power, etc.), can the Government expect outside the central 15° viewing cone angle, when measured?
Q5 Environmental 3.8 What metrics does your company utilize to predict Service/Storage life of your products?
Q6 High Mass Impact
3.9.4 The intent is to have a metric that will ensure that the spectacles, with Rx solution included, will not break apart into two pieces during flight. This method was described in ANSI Z87.1 as a method of ensuring RX inserts will remain secure. Can you tell us about a metric or the method your company uses to test the retention strength of a prescription component?
Q7 RX
Methodology
4.5.1 The Government is interested in learning about the
manner in which your company handles Rx capability.
What organization produces the Rx lenses? How are they implemented into your LEP solution? What metrics are used to gauge user acceptance?
Q8 Visual compatibility
4.7.2 How does your organization gauge visual compatibility?
Through visual acuity charts, color charts, computer models, or some other method?
Q9 Lens Coating and Adhesion
4.11.3 What method does your organization use to measure
coating adhesion strength? Is there a standard document?
Q10 Abrasion Resistance
4.11.1 4.11.2
What method does your organization use to measure abrasion resistance? Is there a standard document?
Q11
Photopic /Scotopic
3.7.1 3.7.2 4.9.1 4.9.2
What are the maximum Photopic (Illuminant E) and Scotopic (Illuminant E) your company is able to achieve currently? How much development would be required to increase those values?
Q12 Optical Density 3.4 Do your products differ significantly in terms of color balance, higher PLT transmission, etc., depending on whether you use a single OD or use one OD within a foveo-centric cone angle of plus or minus 25 degrees and a different OD outside that central cone angle? If you were to develop a new design, do you anticipate that using either a single OD or two OD’s would have a significant impact on other characteristics?
