About this file

This is a Performance Specification document for the Tactical Radio Intermediate Test Set (TRITS), prepared by the Product Manager of Maintenance Support Systems – Automatic Test Systems at Marine Corps Systems Command. The specification establishes functional and technical requirements for an automated test system designed to support tactical radio maintenance and testing operations.

The TRITS is required to be a portable, integrated test platform weighing no more than 102 pounds, housed in a single ruggedized transit case, and operable from a standard 120V single-phase 60Hz power source. The system must incorporate 19 distinct instrumentation functions including a digital multimeter, dual-channel 100 MHz oscilloscope, RF signal generator and receiver (1.5 MHz to 6 GHz), audio frequency generator with dual sources, frequency counters, various modulation meters (FM, AM, phase), harmonic distortion meter, SINAD meter, vector signal analyzer supporting QAM constellations, bit error rate meter, RF power meter, and spectrum analyzer. The TRITS must support FM, AM, and phase modulation across the full frequency range with specified deviation ranges and rates; USB/LSB transmission; and digital modulation with waveform creation and recording capabilities. Critical performance parameters include 1 Hz frequency resolution, 10 MHz instantaneous IF bandwidth for the receiver, and a 10 MHz internal reference oscillator with 0.1 ppm/year aging. The system must feature a Windows 11 (or DISA-compliant) integrated controller, graphical user interface enabling simultaneous access to multiple instruments, non-subscription-based runtime environment with API access, duplex transmission and reception capability, network connectivity (Ethernet or wireless), and built-in test with logging of test data including timestamps, serial numbers, and fault information. At least 30 percent of instrumentation must utilize open system architecture (PXI/PXIe); mean time between failures must reach 1,500 hours. Verification will occur through field user evaluation with Marine operators and maintainers, bid sample testing, and source selection analysis of vendor proposals.
