About this file

This is an interior inspection report prepared for the Kenton County Airport Board at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) documenting the condition of the South Glycol Pump Station II tanks located in Hebron, Kentucky. The inspection, conducted on August 2, 2023, by NACE Certified Coating Inspector Gregory Charles Hardig Sr., evaluated the interior conditions of both the East 125 and West 125 tanks. The East 125 tank was found to be in good condition requiring no repairs. The West 125 tank was identified as requiring repairs at two locations: a 2-inch repair at the boot bridging two precast joints on the east end south side, and a 12-inch repair at the third seam from the east end. The recommended repair methodology involves cleaning the affected locations, abrading mating surfaces, applying CIM surface conditioner, patching with CIM trowel grade material, and resealing the joint.

The inspection report was commissioned by Scott Thacker, Sr. Manager of Environmental Operations at CVG, and serves as a foundation document for the related Kenton County Airport Board solicitation for Tank Inspections & Repairs & On-Call Services. Questions regarding this procurement are due by May 11, 2026, with answers posted by May 14, 2026, and bids must be received by May 21, 2026 at 2:00 pm. The inspection findings directly inform the scope of work and repair requirements that potential bidders must address in their proposals for the tank maintenance and repair contract.

Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) Kenton County Airport Board South Glycol pump Station 2 East 125 Tank & West 125 tank Hebron KY 41048 Interior Inspection Report

August 2, 2023

Report commissioned by:

Scott Thacker, Sr. Manager Environmental Operations Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) Kenton County Airport Board P.O. Box 752000 Cincinnati, OH 45275 Sthacker@cvgairport.com

Prepared by:

Gregory Charles Hardig Sr.

NACE CIP Level-3 Cert # 3494

General:

The plan for the day is to inspect the General condition of the South Glycol Pump Station II East & West 125 tank Interiors.

With JSA and a meaningful discussion on safety complete, we are using a 5x gas air monitor to find the tank safe for entry.

In the WEST tank there were two repairs identified. The First was about 2” long where the boot bridges the two precast joints. (East end, South side last joint.)

The second spot is located at the third seam from the east end and is about 12” long.

Summary:

The EAST 125 tank is in good shape and no repairs are needed.

The WEST 125 tank has two spots that need repairs. The method would be to clean the location and abrade the mating surfaces. Then apply CIM surface conditioner and patch with CIM Trowel grade the re-seal the joint.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Respectfully submitted.

Gregory Charles Hardig Sr.
