Schedule Model Review: An LMA-led event, SMR is a review of the IPS (in its current state) and thorough discussion of any predicted challenges, constraints, schedule efficiencies, etc. The SMR will begin at A-59, or on first business day following the WPER. The contractor shall discuss the schedule in sufficient detail to support understanding of time and space constraints, critical and controlling path work, and items requiring integration. The anticipated duration of this meeting will vary depending on work package scope, but notionally between 2-6 days.
The agenda should not be for full days, allowing time for both formal large-group discussions, smaller follow-on discussions, and for individuals to reach back to their parent organizations to resolve any questions or issues that may arise during the more formal meeting hours.
The primary purpose of the SMR is to conduct a thorough discussion of any predicted challenges, constraints, etc., and to establish working relationships and encourage collaboration among all execution stakeholders. This should include a review of assumptions included in the schedule development for accuracy and group understanding, to aid in resolving conflicts and discussion of issues identified during the meeting until the group feels a feasible solution is in the works or a follow-on meeting is scheduled.
The LMA is responsible for:
- Determining the SMR dates, meeting duration, and agenda
- Arranging meeting logistics (to include, but not limited to: sending meeting invitations, distributing advance materials, and securing a venue). Venue should be of sufficient size to accommodate a minimum expected number of participants based on ship class, as outlined in the table below:
