About this file
This is an Amendment 02 containing questions and answers for RFP ISD_363232_DA regarding a Fire House Generator and ATS Replacement project at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.
The Q&A addresses five key technical and scheduling matters: 1) Remote monitoring requirements, specifying three dry contacts for Firus and modbus/backnet output from the controller, 2) Confirmation that the required remote annunciator panel is solely for generator status/operation with no additional specifications, 3) Clarification that no fire alarm monitoring currently exists for the generator, 4) Flexibility on the 60-day completion schedule to accommodate generator lead times of 60-90 days, with vendors required to specify lead times in their proposals, and 5) Notification that existing conduit cannot be reused as it is planned for other purposes.

AMENDMENT 02 to RFP ISD_363232_DA Fire House Generator and ATS Replacement
Responses to Prospective Offerors’ Questions
Question 1: It was mentioned during the site-visit that there will need to be remote monitoring and/ or connecting to the existing fire alarm system, and that an email will be provided with further details. We have not yet received any emails with that information. Accordingly, please confirm the remote monitoring wiring that is needed between the annunciator and the main fire alarm system, or please provide wiring details.
Response 1: The remote monitoring wiring needed is three (3) dry contacts for Firus (out of auto, running, trouble alarm). Additionally, either modbus and/or backnet output from the controller (backnet preferred if possible).
Question 2: Per the given SOW, a remote annunciator panel (and e-stop) is to be installed inside the building. Is this annunciator panel for the status and operation of the generator only? Are there specific capabilities or specifications required for this generator annunciator panel that differ from the control panel mounted on the unit?
Response 2: The annunciator panel is just for the status and operation of the generator. There are no extra requirements.
Question 3: What type of system is currently in place for fire alarm monitoring? Most are proprietary systems that we will need to subcontract with the manufacturer to update.
Response 3: Currently there is no fire alarm monitoring for the generator.
Question 4: According to the proposal, the construction schedule requires the project to be completed within 60 calendar days from the NTP. We will not have an exact lead time on the generator until it is purchased after receiving the contract. However, the lead time we typically see on these generators could be as much as 60 - 90 days. Can the construction schedule be modified after the contract is awarded to allow for the time it takes to manufacture and ship the generator?
Response 4: We are looking for work to finish within 60 days of starting, however an increase to account for lead times is acceptable. Please provide lead times in your proposal.
Question 5: Can the existing conduit for the generator power be utilized?
Response 5: There are new plans to repurpose that conduit for something else, so it cannot be re-used for this project.
