About this file
This is an Independent Cost Estimate (ICE) document prepared by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) for a Prescription Safety Eyewear procurement. The project involves providing prescription safety eyewear to designated OCTA employees who are required to wear eye protection under the OCTA Eye Protection Policy. Employees are eligible to purchase new eyewear every two years or when specific conditions are met, including new job assignments with different safety requirements, work-related damage verified by line management and approved by the Health, Safety, and Environmental Control (HSEC) Department, or changes in prescription verified by an optician. The five-year contract term runs from December 1, 2025 through November 30, 2030, with no guaranteed usage on an as-needed basis. The requisition number is 035373, and the requestor is Olivia Salters, Safety Specialist.
The total estimated cost for the five-year contract period is $26,250.00, with equal annual allocations of $5,250.00 per year across all five years. This estimate is based on current spending patterns and covers safety glasses and prescription eyewear for eligible employees, including all associated costs such as shipping, handling, and taxes. The cost estimate was prepared on June 6, 2025, and was derived from historical spending data and current usage requirements. No direct labor, overhead, information technology support, travel, subcontractor, or other direct costs are included in this estimate; the entire budget is allocated solely to materials and services for the prescription eyewear program.
