Q: Regarding the fire alarm system (28 31 74) and the clean agent suppression system (22 21 00) installation:
The building fire alarm detection system and the clean agent suppression system detection and releasing functions can be handled by a single control panel with the appropriate capabilities. The King Fisher KFRTI (IRAC) is not listed for releasing service and does not have the capability to perform such functions. The existing King Fisher transmitter could be reused (as it is currently being utilized) to transmit the alarm and utility signals to the MILPOL, Base Firehouse, and CHP for reporting purposes. The current transmitter offers up to eight discrete reporting zones. This solution would comply with the applicable NFPA codes for these systems, meet the operational requirements of this facility, as well as the intent of the specifications.
Would the existing King-Fisher transmitter be considered an acceptable means of fire alarm, clean agent activation, and utility signal transmission versus the specified King-Fisher IRAC control panel?
A: Please provide the new IRAC panel and other features/equipment as specified. Reuse of the existing King-Fisher panel, and/or addressable systems is NOT intended. The clean agent releasing equipment shall be listed for that function, and may be new or reused Halon equipment if it meets all requirements of the specifications.
