BAYBERRY RFQ HSCG85-16-Q-P45458, Question & Answer, Round 5

27) Work Item 16, Rudder Assembly, Remove, Inspect and Reinstall. Paragraph 3.4.3.4 requires the contractor to “renew the upper roller bearing”. The reference provided identifies the bearing as “Timken Roller Bearing No. 593-5920 with 1 spacer”. The bearing supplier has indicated that this number is not complete. Does the government have a complete part number so that the contractor can accurately price the replacement bearing?

Answer: There are very limited reference drawings for this class cutter on file within CG-LIMS. Reference drawing 65 BUSS 2200-001 Rev-3 lists the upper roller bearing as a Timken roller bearing Part Number 593-5920 with 1 spacer. This is the only drawing currently on file that shows any information on the upper roller bearing itself. All of the dimensions of the area where the bearing is located are shown on the referenced drawing, which may be enough information for the contractor to provide to the manufacturer to request a quote for a suitable replacement bearing. The manufacturers part number is usually stamped into the outer race of the bearing and could be matched for replacement upon removal. Unfortunately, this is the only information we have at this time concerning the Part number of the existing upper roller bearing for the Rudder Assembly.
