When the student has displayed that they can maintain a stable body position, the primary instructor may instruct/spot from the entry way to of the tunnel. Upon completion of a student’s instruction, the The instructor will move to the video debrief area located inside the tunnel atrium after completion of a student’s instruction. While one the first instructor is debriefing the initial student, the other second tunnel instructor will be instructing another student inside the wind tunnel.

b. Wind Tunnel Operator – The wind tunnel operator will be located inside the tunnel control room that is attached to the wind tunnel.

5. Safety Procedures/Policies

a. Tunnel Entry Procedures: When directed, the student will move to the door to of the tunnel, just outside the flow of wind. The primary instructor will ensure that the student has donned all necessary equipment on and securedproperly. The student will cross their arms over their chest and look up. The primary instructor will take positive control of the student and instruct signal the student to enter the tunnel. The student will lean through the door and into the wind. The primary instructor will assist the student into the center of the tunnel and take the primary control position.

b. Tunnel exit Exit proceduresProcedures: When the student’s allotted time runs out is completed, the primary instructor will take either the primary or secondary control position on the student. The primary instructor will move the student to within arm’sarms reach of the door. The student will grasp the door frame and lower the their legs so that the student is in into a standing position., The primary instructor will assist the student into the standing position. assisted by the Primary Instructor. The student will then walk out ofexit the tunnel.

c. TTO/Injury while flying – If at any point a student becomes injured or, is in pain, or for any reason wants to initiate a TTO while flying and the instructor is unaware, the student will give a thumbs down signal sign with one or both hands to initiate a TTO and signal to the instructor that they need to exit the tunnel. The primary instructor will assist exit the student to the exit utilizing the Tunnel Exit Procedures.

2. The Wind Tunnel Operator will take position in the tunnel control room. When the Wind Tunnel Operator is in position, they will close the tunnel atrium door. After all instructors and students are in position, the Tunnel Operator will turn up the wind at the level specified by the Wind Tunnel Instructor.

3. For the first flight, the Tunnel Instructor will walk the student in the center of the tunnel and instruct the student to take lie on the net in the stable body position while lying on the net.

4. The Wind Tunnel Instructor will adjust the wind speed so that the student has enough wind speedlift to hold the proper body position while remaining on the net.

5. The instructor will adjust the student’s body position utilizing hand signals and physical manipulation of the student’s body.

6. The instructor will then have the student demonstrate the input required to move in a desired direction or to move the body in a certain fashionthe manner directed by the instructor. (left turn, right turn, forward movement and backwards movement).

7. At the instructor’s discretion, the instructor will signal to the wind tunnel operator to slowly increase the wind speed until the student lifts off the net and begins flying. The instructor will remain at the student’s side and provide instruction on the student’s body position.

8. At 1 minute 50 secondsWhen the time reaches (10 seconds prior to the 2 minute time limit), the instructor will signal to the student that it is time to exit the tunnel. The instructor will assist the student in to standing up and walk the student to the exit of the tunnel.

9. Upon exiting the tunnel, the student will move to the video debriefing area located inside the tunnel atrium. The instructor will provide verbal debrief points with the student while reviewing the video of the students flight with the student.

10. After the instructor has debriefed the student, the student will will take a seatbe seated on the bench in the tunnel atrium and to stand by for the next flight.

11. The Wind Tunnel Instructors will continue this process until each of the 5-6 students in the atrium has flown.

Flight 2 (2 minutes) Body Position and Heading Control

1. When directed, the student will enter the wind tunnel with the assistance of the Tunnel Instructor in accordance with the tunnel entry procedures

2. The instructor will position the student in the center of the wind tunnel and will maintain the primary control position
