QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Solicitation Number: GS10-P-16-LT-R-9000 Title of Project: 911 Federal Building Design Build Elevator Modernization Date: 17 May 2016 Amendment 003
The following questions were received through 13 May 2016.
Q5. Under item 2 “Scope of Services”, it specifies that new Safeties and Car Frame are required. Are these items required for both the Passenger and Service car? The reason I ask is because under item 2.1 (passenger elevators) it does not request new Safeties and Car Frame. However, under 2.2 (freight elevator) it does call out for new Safeties and Car Frame.
A5. Installation of new safeties and car frames is optional and is not a contract requirement for both passenger and freight elevators; however, the awarded contractor will be responsible to warrant all re-used existing equipment same as new and will be part of acceptance testing. Item 2 in the SOW is revised accordingly.
Q6. Under item 2.1 3rd sentence is says that the elevators are 300 FPM and 3000# capacity. They are actually 400 FPM and 3500# capacity (see photo of data tag from the car top).
A6. Noted and corrected. The Statement of Work has been updated to reflect the current conditions. See page 10, Section 2.1 Passenger Elevators and page 11 2.2 Freight Elevators for changes.
Q7. Under item 2.1 the seventh sentence calls out for Destination Dispatch System. Is the for Destination Dispatch System part of the base bid and would you like a Conventions System (Stander up/down hall buttons) as an alternate?
A7. Destination Dispatch is prescribed in the SOW as the required system. GSA does not wish to see any alternatives presented.
Q8. Under item 2.2 (Freight Elevator), the second sentence calls out for a Gearless Elevator. The existing system is a Geared Elevator and is a better candidate for a 7000# capacity elevator. Would you like an alternate price for a Geared Elevators?
A8. Corrected, removed gearless as a requirement. Proposal submission can be either geared or gearless. Statement of Work page 11, Section 2.2 has been updated to show correction.
