About this file

This document is the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) clause 52.217-9 for Option to Extend the Term of the Contract, dated March 2000. The clause outlines the government's option to extend the contract's duration under specific conditions. Key details include the government's ability to extend the contract term by providing a written notice within 5 calendar days, with a preliminary notice required at least 30 calendar days before the contract expires. The extension is not a guaranteed commitment, and the total contract duration, including any options, cannot exceed September 30, 2029. This clause provides flexibility for the government to potentially lengthen the contract period while setting clear parameters for such an extension.
