About this file
This document contains two Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) clauses related to contract options for increased quantity and contract term extension. The clauses specify that the government may increase the quantity of supplies at the original unit price, with the Contracting Officer able to exercise the option by written notice within 30 days. The contract term extension option allows the government to extend the contract for up to 12 months with a preliminary notice at least 60 days before expiration, with the total contract duration not exceeding 3 years.
The associated federal contract opportunity is a Request for Quotes (RFQ-NIAID-25-2259905) for Medical Courier Services issued by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). The one-year contract, running from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026, seeks a courier service to transport medical specimens within a 50-mile radius of Bethesda, MD. The solicitation is set aside for small businesses, with estimated service quantities including scheduled, STAT, and as-needed pickups between NIH locations in Bethesda and Gaithersburg. Vendors must meet specific requirements including regulatory compliance, temperature-controlled transportation, driver training, and security protocols. Quotes are due by May 14, 2025, with award based on best value considering capability and pricing.
