About this file
This is FAR clause 52.217-9 "Option to Extend the Term of the Contract" that outlines the government's ability to extend a contract term.
The clause specifies that the government may extend the contract by providing written notice before expiration, including a preliminary notice of intent that does not commit them to the extension. If exercised, the option clause becomes part of the extended contract. The total contract duration, including all option periods, cannot exceed 3 years. This clause appears in a solicitation (75N95025Q00093) for a service agreement for the National Institute on Aging's Delta V Plus MS equipment, with a base period of 3/25/2025-3/24/2026 and two one-year option periods through 3/24/2028.
