1. APPENDIX 11 - GOVERNMENT FURNISHED PROPERTY INDICATES THE

FOLLOWING ITEMS WILL BE FURNISHED:

A) SPACE SHUTTLE CREW COMPARTMENT (CCT)

B) SUPPORT BASE FOR CCT

QUESTIONS: CONFIRM THE ITEM BEING FURNISHED IS SHOWN IN

ATTACHMENT A AND WHAT ARE THE HEIGHT, LENGTH

AND WIDTH DIMENSIONS OF SPACE SHUTTLE CREW

COMPARTMENT

Answer: Here are CCT dimensions (the artifact, exclusive of support structures):

Length = 338 inches (from attached PDF) Width = 212 inches (from attached PDF) Height = approximately 156 inches (13 feet or 4 meters, from attached JPG)

WHO FABRICATED THE SPACE SHUTTLE CREW COMPARTMENT

Answer: Rockwell.

ARE DETAIL DRAWINGS ON THE SPACE SHUTTLE CREW

COMPARTMENT AND SUPPORT BASE FOR CCT AVAILABLE

FOR OUR USE

Answer: They are not available. NMUSAF has none; NASA is double-checking its holdings in order to locate them if they exist.

2. WHAT IS APPROXIMATE SIZE OF SPACE ALLOCATED (SQUARE FOOTAGE)

FOR THE LEARNING/STEM NODE EXHIBIT STRUCTURE

Answer: Approximately 1,500 square feet.

3. HOW WILL THE EXISTING SPACE SHUTTLE CREW COMPARTMENT AND

SUPPORT BASE FOR CCT BE SHIPPED TO EXHIBIT FABRICATOR, CRATED

OR LOOSE.

Answer: The CCT stays at the NMUSAF

4. DOES THE SKIRTING MATERIAL ALREADY EXIST FOR BASE STRUCTURE

OF SPACE SHUTTLE CREW COMPARTMENT AND IF SO PLEASE PROVIDE

SPECIFICATION ON MATERIAL

Answer: No skirting exists.

5. WHAT TYPE/SPECIFICATION OF PAINT WAS USED ON THE SPACE SHUTTLE

CREW COMPARTMENT

Answer: The type/specification of paint used on CCT1 is not known.

6. STATEMENT OF WORK, PAGE 2 OF 11 ITEM 2.2 THATES "WITH A LIP THAT

EXTENDS 18.5" FROM THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE CCT, ATTACHMENT "A"

PHOTO APPEARS TO SHOW EXISTING BASE FOR CCT EXTENDING A

LONGER DISTANCE THAN 18.5", PLEASE CLARIFY

Answer: There is a rear base used only for tilting the CCT to the vertical;

this will not be used.

7. STATEMENT OF WORK, PAGE 4 OF 11 ITEM 2.3.3 INDICATES THAT RAMPS

AND DOORWAYS SHALL BE WIDE ENOUGH TO FIT TWO STANDARD

WHEELCHAIRS SIDE BY SIDE. THIS WIDER THAN NORMAL RAMP DOES NOT

MEET ADA REQUIREMENTS OF RAMPS WITH RAILING BEING 48" WIDE,

PLEASE CLARIFY

Answer: Statement of work concept drawings show ramps 72” wide;

this meets or exceeds minimum ADA standards for wheelchairs.

8. Page 7, Item 3.1.1 states that "35% design/engineering documentation" be submitted with the original proposal. Question: Does this mean that we have to include design/engineering drawings (35% completion phase) with our proposal responses?

Answer: Yes. Exhibit/engineering documentation equivalent to 35% completion must be included in the proposal so that NMUSAF can see the level of design and engineering the final product will have.
