About this file

This document is a Technical Manual for the operation and maintenance of a coffee maker, part number 50405-200, manufactured by Nordskog Industries, Inc. The manual provides detailed instructions and illustrations for preparing the coffee maker for use, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. It covers topics such as theory of operation, controls and indicators, inspection and preventive maintenance, diagrams, and an illustrated parts breakdown. The coffee maker can provide 48 ounces of drip-brewed coffee in 3 to 4 minutes and has features like a warming pad and automatic shut-off. The manual includes safety precautions, special tools and test equipment, and consumable materials required. Overall, this is an operation and maintenance manual for the specified coffee maker model.

The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Robins Air Force Base for the sustainment of the Air Transportable Galley and Lavatory (ATGL). The scope includes program engineering support, overhaul, repair, and material management for the ATGL units.

SAFETY SUMMARY

The following are general safety precautions and instructions that personnel must understand and apply during many phases of operation and maintenance to ensure personal safety and health and the protection of Air Force property. Portions of this summary may be repeated elsewhere in this publication for emphasis.

OBSERVE WARNING AND CAUTION STATEMENTS

WARNING and CAUTION statements have been strategically placed throughout this manual to emphasize certain steps or procedures for the protection of personnel (WARNING) or possibility of equipment and property damage (CAUTION).

A WARNING or CAUTION, once provided, will apply each time the related task is performed, regardless of the number of times the step is repeated throughout the manual. Prior to starting any task, review and understand the WARNINGS and CAUTIONs included in this manual for that task.

KEEP AWAY FROM LIVE CIRCUITS

Operating personnel must observe all safety regulations at all times. Do not replace components inside the equipment with voltage supply turned on. Under certain conditions, dangerous potentials may exist when power control is in the OFF position due to charges retained by capacitors. To avoid injuries, always remove power from discharge and ground a circuit before touching it. Adhere to all lock out/tag out requirements.

DO NOT WEAR JEWELRY

Remove rings, watches, and other metallic objects which may cause shock or bum hazards. Snagged finger rings have caused many serious injuries. Unless specifically allowed by shop safety procedures, remove finger rings during all periods of maintenance.

DO NOT SERVICE OR ADJUST ALONE

Do not attempt internal service or adjustment with power applied unless another person capable of rendering aid and resuscitation is present. Personnel working with or near dangerous voltage shall be trained in modem methods of resuscitation. Information and training sources may be obtained from the director of base medical services.

^^ USE ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD) PROCEDURES

Certain circuit card assemblies and their components will be damaged by seemingly undetectable electrostatic discharge.

Care must be exercised during handling/repair of these items. Use electrostatic discharge (BSD) precautionary procedures.

GIVE CLEANERS/CHEMICALS SPECIAL CARE

Keep cleaners in approved safety containers and in minimum quantities. Some cleaners/chemicals may have an effect on skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. Observe manufacturer’s WARNING label and current safety directives. Use only in authorized areas. Discard soiled cleaning cloths into safety cans.

S1

USE SAFETY-APPROVED EQUIPMENT

When cleaners and primers are being applied, use approved explosion-prooflights, blowers, and other equipment. Ensure that firefighting equipment is readily available and in working order.

OBSERVE PRESSURE SYSTEM SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Pressure system safety precautions apply to all ranges of pressure. Care must be taken during testing to ensure that all test connections are proper and tight prior to applying pressure to the test setup; all system components must be compatible with pressure applied. Use of compressed air can create an environment of propellent foreign particles. Air pressure shall be reduced to less than 30 psi and used with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment.

WEAR PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Wear protective clothing/equipment (gloves, apron, eye protection, etc.) approved for the materials, procedures, and tools being used. Contact supervisor for guidance. If necessary, the bioenvironmental engineer of the base safety office should be contacted for guidance.
