Question and Answers Coordinate Measuring Machines Ref: Combined Synopsis Solicitation FA812521Q0029
1. Has the ceiling height already been raised to 120”?
A. No the ceiling height is currently at 102 inches. The ceiling panels will only be removed above the location where the machine is finally placed. When the machine is placed the ceiling panels at that location only will be raised to 120 inches, if required, the rest of the ceiling in the room will remain at 102 inches.
1. Is the machine height of 108” acceptable?
A. This is acceptable as long as the machine does not require more clearance than a height of 120 inches after installation.
1. The specifications call out an option to add an optical sensor at a later date, please clarify.
A. Request that the CMM is configured so that an optional white light sensor can be added that has the ability to capture cloud dimensions of freeform surfaces. Future capability to add the optical sensor should only require the cost of purchasing the sensor. This provision is to preclude having to modify or upgrade the CMM or purchase additional software later to add the optical sensor.
1. Would the contractor have to load the old CMM and remove this machine from Tinker AFB?
A. Tinker AFB will remove the existing CMM prior to delivery of the new equipment. The contractor is not responsible for removal or disposal of the old CMM.
1. The Combined Synopsis says that price will be the only factor?
A. Correct, the price is the deciding factor for all CMM’s that meet the technical requirements in the SOW.
1. Can the size of the machine vary if it is suitable for the application?
A. The minimum table size must be able to measure in the range of x=500mm, y=700mm and z=500mm.
1. Does it have to be a Hexagon, Brown and Sharpe machine?
A. No, the Government is not dictating the brand or model of the replacement CMM.
1. How many programs do they have written on the current CMM?
A. None, the current CMM does not have the ability to be programed. We are purchasing a new CMM to have the added capability.
1. Would the Government consider a CMM that uses a different software?
A. Software requirements are not specified in the SOW. The software should optimize the operation and use of the CMM.
