Answer
SATCOM requirements - Commercial via INMARSAT?
We want a system that will meet CPDLC/FAA requirements.
SRD 3.2.1.1..KPP#1 Worldwide operations IAW FAA Advisory Circular 90-100
Does this mean USAF wants to do a full civil certification for the aircraft or via the GATM SPO?
1. We are anticipating a full civil certification. 2. Reference to AC 90-100 has been removed from the SRD.
SRD 3.2.2.6.1 GPS
GPS requirements seem to contradict. 3.2.2.2.7 PPS solution shall be free of influence from civil augmentation versus 3.2.2.6.1… and (3) a blended civil/military GPS navigation solution.
Without telling them how to design, we have no answer. However, most solutions will contain a military PPS GPS capability and a civil GPS that can be used for blended solutions.
SRD 3.2.10.0 CNS/ATM requirements that are effective not at award, but at IOC
This implies TCAS II, Mode S EHS, and IFF requirements but none of these systems are specifically called out in SRD. Can you clarify your desire for these functions?
If it is a CNS/ATM requirement, then it has to be addressed. We currently have ETCAS II, Mode S EHS. Remember: this effort is to make our aircraft fully compliant with all CNS/ATM requirements to 2015.
SRD 3.5.3.1 The CNS/ATM equipment MTBF rate shall be higher than the current KC-10 analytical data of the equipment being replaced.
There will be equipment replaced but will the analysis also imply to include the added equipment?
Yes.
SRD 3.6.1.1.1.4 100% hardware resources reserve (computer, throughput, memory, buses)
MC reserve - installed or growth?
Installed.

Question
Answer
SRD 3.6.6.3 LPI mode should be included in all CNS/ATM radars, communications, station keeping equipment, and beacons.
What is meant by radars and communications? Many off the shelf CNS/ATM TSO'd systems do not have LPI features. This mentions "station keeping equipment" is there a direct requirement for a SKE or IFPS like function?
This is an objective and may not be able to be met.
SRD 3.2.4.1.2
Can Appendix A be provided?
Yes.
Will access to classified material be required?
No.
Is there an update to Appendix A of the SRD regarding NET READY/KPP#2?
Yes.
What does MMP (next to RTIC) stand for?
Multi-Mission Payload
SRD 3.2.1.2 KPP#1 Meet performance defined by FAA and ICAO standards for airborne CNS/ATM functions
Is it your intent to follow DO-178B guidelines for SW development?
Yes.
SRD 3.2.2.5.7
Does the reference to "navigation database" update via datalink include the DAFIF data? If so, has the safety impacts of this in flight been assessed against DO-200 requirements?
It includes DAFIF data. The USAF has certified DAFIF data for use in our database and is or will be certified to DO-200/201.
SRD 3.2.4.4.3
Is there a preferred commercial SATCOM provider (i.e. IRIDIUM or INMARSAT)?
No.
