ESTABLISHMENT

• 1985 DoD Authorization Act

• 90+ PTACs across the nation including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam

• PTACs specialize in assistance to small businesses, government start-ups and federally recognized Indian Tribes, Alaskan and Hawaiian Native entities

PURPOSE/FUNDING

• Help expand businesses pursue and perform under government contracts – federal, state and local

• Administered by Defense Logistics Agency via the NDAA

• Funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the DOD and GA Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI²).

• The program formerly changed hands from the DOD Defense Logistic Agency (DLA) to the DOD Dept. Office of Small Business Programs (OBSP) October 2022

• The vision of the program is to establish a “diverse and resilient defense industrial base that can deliver preeminent solutions to the military and other government users”

• The mission is to “serve as the axis for existing and new business to strengthen the defense industrial base by accelerating innovation, fostering ingenuity, and establishing resilient and diverse supply chains”

• The program still exists to assist businesses with local and state government contracting
