About this file
The document is a REAL ID Act informational handout for Shaw Air Force Base detailing acceptable forms of identification for base access. The document provides comprehensive guidance on identification requirements, listing federally-issued, state-issued, and other acceptable forms of identification. Notably, all states and territories are currently REAL ID compliant or on an extension until May 7, 2025, and the handout specifies which types of driver's licenses or identification cards are not acceptable for federal identification purposes.
The acceptable identification forms include a wide range of documents such as U.S. passports, military IDs, permanent resident cards, naturalization certificates, transportation worker credentials, voter registration cards, birth certificates, tribal photo IDs, and foreign government-issued passports. The document emphasizes the importance of checking identification carefully, particularly for those with annotations like "Not Valid for Federal Identification" or similar restrictive language, to ensure proper base access and compliance with federal identification standards.
