Vehicle Corrosion Control Q & A

Q: What is an acceptable distance for the corrosion control service site to be from Vandenberg SFB acceptable?

A: The maximum distance is 120 miles.

Q: What are the measurements of each vehicle?

A: All vehicles for 30 LRS were in use and inaccessible when this question was asked, however, as a gauge, each vehicle listed in the PWS can fit on a lowboy. For 2 ROPS the vehicle/equipment varies in length from 6’ to 25’, width varies between 6’ to 10’6” and height varies between 2’7” up to 25’. See the PWS for further size details.

Q: Will there be a site visit?

A: No site visit is planned.

Q: Base years reflect the estimated quantity as 25 Tasks and 20 Tasks (page 3 of the solicitation). Is that the estimated number of vehicles that need service?

A: Yes. It will depend on each vehicle’s/equipment’s need for corrosion control.

Q: How will this proposal be submitted?

A: Refer to the sonication attachments. See page 36 of the Standard Form 1449 for detailed instructions.

Q: Have the vehicles been tested for lead?

A: No, they have not. However, the track mounts do not have lead paint. All other assets should be new enough that lead paint has been phased out.

Q: Should we be quoting this project per hour as indicated in the attached price breakdown spreadsheets, or is it more appropriate to quote per vehicle?

A: Per Hour. This pricing will apply to every vehicle.

Q: Can you provide pictures of the vehicles that need corrosion control and painting services?

A: I will attend the site visit tomorrow. Though not all vehicles will be viewed, I will take photos of the vehicles we can access.

Q: Are there are any additional details or specifications we should consider?

A: Vandenberg SFB is located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean which impacts corrosion levels.
