About this file

This is a Bid Bond template document issued by the City of St. Petersburg, Florida, for use in conjunction with competitive solicitations. The bond serves as a financial guarantee that a bidder will execute a contract if awarded and provide the required performance bond within ten consecutive calendar days of written notice of award, or within a longer period if mutually agreed upon by the City. The bond amount is set at five percent of the total bid price and must be submitted with the bid submission. The document is a standardized form that requires completion of project-specific information by the requesting department and includes spaces for identification of the principal (bidder), surety company, bond amount, and execution dates.

The bond obligates both the principal and surety jointly and severally to pay the stated amount to the City as liquidated damages if the principal fails to enter into the contract or provide the required performance bond equal to one hundred percent of the bid amount. The surety must be represented by an attorney-in-fact with a valid Florida license, and documentation of power of attorney authority must be attached to the executed bond. The principal must execute the bond with either a corporate seal and attestation or two witness signatures, depending on whether the entity maintains a seal. This template applies to all City of St. Petersburg solicitations requiring bid bonds, including the Janitorial Supplies contract opportunity for furnishing supplies to the Consolidated Warehouse for distribution to City Departments.
