About this file
This document is a 100% design submittal for the construction of a new fuel storage and dispensing system at Kalaupapa National Historical Park on the island of Molokai, Hawaii. The project consists of installing 4 new 5,000-gallon above ground fuel storage tanks, 1 new 5,000-gallon above ground diesel tank, a dispensing/tracking system, a concrete pad and shelter, mechanical connections, underground data and electrical service, a transformer, lights, bollards, and a compacted aggregate access road. The work will be performed under a single prime contract. The project location has unique access and logistical challenges, as the site can only be accessed by small aircraft, hiking the Pali trail, or by barge service that is limited to a few months per year. The contractor will be responsible for arranging all transportation of materials, equipment, and personnel to and from the site. Special construction requirements include compliance with park regulations, lodging and dining restrictions, and a lack of medical facilities on the island.
