About this file
This document contains a Structural Analysis Report and specifications for a shelter and propane tank foundation design project for a new radio communications facility on Wolf Mountain in Oregon. The project, solicited by the State of Oregon, involves construction of a new transmissions tower and ancillary facilities. The Structural Analysis Report provides design calculations and specifications for the concrete foundations for the equipment shelter and a 1000-gallon propane tank, including wind load, seismic, and soil bearing analysis. The propane tank specifications indicate the tank is an ASME-certified aboveground storage tank with a 250 PSI pressure rating. The foundations are designed to meet the requirements of the 2022 Oregon Structural Specialty Code.
The report includes detailed technical drawings and reinforcement schedules for the 6-inch thick concrete equipment shelter foundation and 12-inch thick concrete propane tank pad. Allowable soil bearing capacity is provided as 4,000 PSF based on a geotechnical report. The report indicates the foundations are structurally adequate to support the shelter and propane tank, which have estimated weights of 51,900 lbs and 6,000 lbs respectively. No pricing or funding details are provided in the documents.

Project: Wolf Mountain March 21, 2024
Description of the project:
Structural calculations for Equipment shelter foundations and Propane Tank foundation design.
Design Codes:
2022 Oregon Structural Specialty Code
ASCE 7‐16
References:
1. Prefabricated Shelter data prepared by Sabre Industries, SSGS19 and SSGS20
2. Propane Tank specification
3. Geotechnical report by Earth Engineers, Inc., dated on 1/12/2022
Design Criteria:
Risk Category IV Wind Load: 120 MPH ultimate wind speed with 3 second gust, Exposure C Soil site class B Seismic Load: Seismic Important Factor = 1.5, SDS = 0.285, SD1 = 0.139, Seismic Design Category = D Ground Snow = 300 psf
Concrete Grade, f’c = 4,500 psi, Steel Grade, fy = 60 ksi
Per Geotechnical report, the allowable soil bearing capacity = 4,000 psf was used for pre‐fabricated shelter and propane tank foundation design.
New Propane Tank Foundation = 12’‐0” x 5’‐7” x 12” thick concrete pad
Design Load:
Total weight of shelter = 51,900 lbs for SSGS19 and 29,700 lbs for SSGS20., per data by shelter manufacturer, Sabre Industries
Total weight of propane tank =6,000 lbs., per design data by manufacturer
Results:
The concrete slab on grade foundation for equipment shelter was design and checked with lateral load and vertical loads. The designed shelter foundation is under the allowable stress values. New propane tank foundation was designed and checked under lateral and vertical loads. The proposed foundation was adequate to support the proposed propane tank. Please see attached calculations for more details.
Conclusion:
Based on the attached calculations the equipment shelter and propane tank foundations are structurally adequate.
