About this file

This is a Frequently Asked Questions document for a state and local contract opportunity with Macon-Bibb County involving road milling and asphalt paving work. The project encompasses full-width milling and paving operations on multiple roads, including specific work on Fulton Mill Road and side road intersections. Work hours are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or as daylight permits, with provisions for approved night work on downtown streets. Key specifications include full-depth milling from curb lip to curb lip, final repaving completion within one day of milling, and the use of 9.5mm Type 1 asphalt at 1.25 inches depth on all roads except Fulton Mill Road, which requires 19mm asphalt at 1.5 inches depth. Patching operations are limited to a maximum depth of four inches and must match the paving mix specifications. Additional requirements include clipping and removing shoulder material from the site, with contractor discretion on patching area width (minimum one lane width) and shoulder work limited to clipping only on roads without curb and gutter.

The document clarifies that advance warning signs may be placed on tripod stands or post-mounted at the contractor's discretion, and compaction testing submission to Macon-Bibb County is not required. A shuttle buggy is permitted but not mandatory when placing 12.5mm asphalt. No driveway paving is included in scope, and the contractor is responsible for removing all clipped grass shoulder material from the site. Pricing terms, funding sources, and contract award information are not addressed in this frequently asked questions document, which serves primarily to clarify technical specifications and operational requirements for the milling and paving work.
