About this file
This document is a comprehensive specification for a Prefabricated Control House Building and Medium Voltage Switchgear for the Fermilab Kautz Road Substation Replacement Project. The specification details requirements for a 40'0"W x 125'0"L x 14'H control building to be located at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois, which will house complex electrical infrastructure including eight 345kV relay and metering control panels, four mimic panels, forty-eight 15kV switchgear units, and associated electrical systems.
The control building must meet stringent technical specifications, including arc-resistant construction, specific environmental load requirements, and comprehensive electrical infrastructure. Key components include ten wall-mounted HVAC units, LED lighting, multiple AC and DC panelboards, battery systems, fire alarm systems, and communication equipment. The specification provides detailed requirements for manufacturing, testing, documentation, and delivery, with the manufacturer responsible for factory testing and providing comprehensive documentation. The project involves delivering a fully integrated, technologically advanced electrical control facility that meets Fermilab's specific engineering and operational standards.
