About this file

This is a technical drawing document providing engineering specifications and location mapping for the Crowley Reach 1 (CR1) segment of the Arkansas Valley Conduit project. The drawing, created in AutoCAD 25.0 and last updated September 17, 2025, depicts the project site location in Colorado spanning from Boone to Crowley, with the CR1 segment beginning at coordinates N = 1577961.11, E = 3356268.53 and connecting to Reach 2 (BR2). The document includes a location map showing the conduit route relative to State Highways 96 and 209, U.S. Highway 50, the Colorado Canal, and the Arkansas River in the southern Colorado area.

The drawing establishes pipe classification standards for the project using a designation system where the first two digits indicate nominal pipe diameter in inches for HDPE pipe, followed by a letter designating soil cover class ranges. The document references Specification Section 33 11 10 Pipeline General Requirements for pipe equivalents and nominal diameter specifications across different pipe materials. The project is managed by the Bureau of Reclamation under the U.S. Department of the Interior's Water Management systems, with the CAD file identified as 382-D-60614-RD-1.DWG and saved by user BZOOK.

PIPE CLASSIFICATIONS

For an example designation of 36B250.

· The 36 indicates the nominal pipe diameter in inches for a HDPE pipe.

See Specification Section 33 11 10 Pipeline General Requirements pipe equivalents table of nominal pipe diameters for different pipe materials.

· B represents a range of soil cover over the pipe. The letter represents a soil cover class of 0.0'<A<5.0', 5.0'<B <10.0', 10.0'<C<15.0', and 15.0'<D<20.0'.

· 250 indicates the maximum sustained operating pressure head in feet of head permitted for the pipe within the designated limits.

GENERAL NOTES

1. General Notes, Symbols, Abbreviations, and Pipe Classifications apply to all drawings.

2. At angle points that do not require miter bends, long radius curves

(vertical and horizontal) shall be constructed by pulling joints.

3. Minimum earth cover over top of the pipe shall be 3.5 feet unless the line pipe is at an existing wash, within a CDOT ROW, or within 15.0 feet of a roadway, and then the minimum cover is 5.0 feet, unless otherwise noted.

4. Where the line pipe crosses an existing pipe, a minimum clear distance of

2.0 feet outside to outside between line pipe and existing pipe shall be provided unless otherwise directed by COR. The backfill between the crossing pipe shall be controlled low strength material (CLSM) as stated in the specifications.

5. For limits of excavation near gas lines, see Specifications.

6. Grid based on Colorado State Plane, Southern Zone Coordinate System.

North American Horizontal datum of 1983 (NAD83) and North American Vertical datum of 1988 (NAVD88) in U.S. survey feet.See reference drawings in Specifications Section 52 00 for survey control points information.

7. Ground to grid conversion factor is 0.9997713902, base point (0,0).

8. The Contractor shall follow Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) erosion control requirements when working within CDOT's right-of-way.

CDOT's Erosion Control & Stormwater Quality Guide can be found on-line at codot.gov/programs/environmental/water-quality/ construction-sites-program.

9. Open cut CDOT roads require CLSM and compacted backfill per Specifications. Non-CDOT roads require gravel surfacing per Specifications.See (60663) for details.

10. Existing utility poles within 5.0 feet of estimated excavation limits will need to be stabilized when digging.

11. CAUTION: Call Colorado OneCall 811 before you dig.

12. Shored and standard trenches are noted on profiles. See typical trench details on (60617).

13. Fiber optic pull boxes and splice vaults per Specifications. Fiber optic conduit not shown on drawings for clarity.

14. Contractor shall provide and maintain (in a safe condition) temporary approaches or crossings and intersections with trails, roads, streets, businesses, parking lots, residences, garages, and farms.

15. Contractor must adhere to Union Pacific Railroad requirements for Union Pacific Railroad crossing which includes but is not limited to: track and ground monitoring and continuous (24/7) construction within 25.0 feet of track centerline. Other requirements may be found in the railroad crossing packages in Division 51 of the Specifications.

16. See Specifications for easement legal descriptions.

17. See Specifications for Option A description and requirements.

5. CLSM is required for embedment when saturated soil is encountered in the pipe trench.

6. CLSM backfill, if used, cannot exceed 5'-0" vertical until CLSM embedment reaches an unconfined compressive strength of 30 psi.

7. Actual pipe trench soil properties will determine the trench type. See

Specifications for additional information.

8. Install pipe based on Specifications or pipe manufacturer's recommendations, whichever is more stringent.

9. See Specifications for CDOT Utility Special Use Permit Standard

Provisions for additional asphalt replacement requirements.

10. For native material properties, see Specifications.
