Architectural Compatibility and Base Design Standards Andersen Air Force Base, Guam

Commander’s Statement

I am proud to present the upda ted Andersen Air Force Base’s Architectural Compatibility and Base Design S tandards . As Andersen Air Force Base continues the la rges t build-up s ince its cons truction, we have es tablished a clea r vis ion and expecta tions governing the appearance of our facilities , landscaping, and overa ll environment.

These s tandards guide the deve lopment of our a ir base , a iding us in mainta ining a rchitectura l compatibility. It is important to note tha t compatibility is not the same as uniformity. We do not want a ll of our facilitie s to appear the same . Rather, we seek to crea te a visua lly appealing base tha t uses a rchitectura l re la tionships to crea te a connection to the environment.

Aes the tica lly pleas ing, low maintenance , cost e ffective facilities and landscaping of a cons is tent des ign characte r a re our priority. Mainta ining s tandards ensures cons is tency and exce llence in the des ign of Andersen Air Force Base ; a base tha t is more than jus t buildings and infras tructure , it is a we ll-planned community and our home. These s tandards ensure we provide a high qua lity working and living environment in support of our miss ion and benefit our mos t important a sse t, our Air Force family.

These a rchitectura l and landscape des ign s tandards crea te an environment tha t promotes exce llence and pride in where we live and work. I encourage a ll members of Team Andersen to become familia r with our s tandards and employ them as we inves t in Andersen’s future .
