About this file

This document contains a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) and related federal contract opportunity solicitation for the Wired in the Defense (WID) Marine Analog Tactical Telephone (MATT).

The RTM specifies technical requirements for the MATT including that it must be handheld, weigh less than two pounds with batteries, have integrated speaker and volume control, visual and audio call indicators, color options, a binding post terminal, strain relief, silent mode capability, and compatibility with military handsets. It must operate on batteries from both military and commercial sources with minimum standby and use times. The MATT must function in point-to-point and point-to-multipoint network configurations supporting a minimum of ten users over a kilometer distance. It must be compatible with common field wire types and not emit or be susceptible to radio frequencies across specified bands. Additional requirements cover environmental tolerances, electromagnetic interference standards, and workmanship quality.

The related solicitation is for the manufacture and delivery of the MATT to provide a wired command and control capability for the United States Marine Corps. It will operate in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint modes to provide redundant communication where radio frequency is denied or degraded, separate from data networks.
