About this file
This document is a Bid Bond for the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (DKX) related to the Reroof Museum Hangar and Reroof of Maintenance Building project at Knoxville Downtown Island Airport in Tennessee. The project involves two separate bid items: Item No. 1 focuses on reroofing the Museum Hangar, including selective demolition, metal roofing panels, coping, roof light panels, building insulation, accessories, and structural frame repair; Item No. 2 covers reroofing the Maintenance Building with similar scope involving selective demolition, metal roofing panels, coping, roof skylights, building insulation, and related accessories. The bid was issued on September 30, 2022, with the bid bond serving as a financial guarantee for the bidding process.
The bid bond ensures that if the principal (bidder) is awarded the contract, they will execute the agreement and perform the work as specified, and if not, the bond provides financial protection for the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority. The document requires the bond to be signed or countersigned by a proper Tennessee Resident Agent, with the date of Power-of-Attorney matching the bond date. If the bidder is a partnership, all partners must execute the bond. The bond's penal sum amount is left blank, to be filled in by the specific bidder, and it protects the owner against potential financial risks associated with the bidding and contract execution process.
