About this file
This is an addendum to a federal contract solicitation for the Rehabilitate Hurricane Ridge Water System project that adds new work items for the 2026 re-solicitation. All costs for the addendum items are incorporated into the lump sum price for CLIN 001, Water Distribution System Replacement, with no separate contract line items assigned.
The addendum specifies two major new work packages. The first is a Fire Hydrant Assembly installation requiring a complete dry-barrel fire hydrant meeting AWWA C502 standards with a 5¼-inch main valve opening, two 2½-inch hose nozzles, and one 4-inch pumper nozzle with Pacific Coast Thread Storz coupling. Acceptable products include Mueller Centurion A-423, Clow F-2500, and M&H 929. The installation includes a removable 8-foot fiberglass hydrant marker for snow visibility, two Type 2 concrete-filled steel bollards for protection, accessible van-parking space modifications with diagonal striping, accessible curb ramps complying with federal accessibility standards, a 6-inch auxiliary gate valve, and a witnessed hydrant flow test per AWWA M17 standards. The hydrant must remain bagged until system acceptance and commissioning. The second work package involves installing approximately 120 linear feet of rigid PVC conduit (Schedule 40 minimum, Schedule 80 where subject to physical damage) at 24-inch depth within the water line trench, connecting to an existing 1-inch PVC conduit and terminating at a new underground electrical vault measuring 24 inches by 24 inches minimum. The vault must meet SCTE 77 Tier 8 load rating and NEMA 250/UL 50 standards. The contractor shall install empty conduit only with no conductors, grounding, terminations, or electrical equipment included, as future electrical work will be performed by others.

2.3 Pavement Striping, Accessible Parking, and Signage
Modify existing pavement striping to provide:
1. One 96-inch-wide accessible van-parking space and one 96-inch-wide access aisle, centered on the hydrant location.
2. Access aisle shall be clearly marked with diagonal striping to indicate no parking.
3. Install crosswalk striping connecting the access aisle to the temporary trailer facilities.
4. Install new accessibility signage on the north side of the sidewalk:
o International Symbol of Accessibility o “Van Accessible” designation o Bottom edge of sign mounted a minimum of 60 inches above grade
All pavement markings and signage shall conform to the MUTCD, ABAAS, and NPS requirements.
2.4 Accessible Curb Ramps
At the head of the access aisle, install accessible curb ramps or a blended transition through the concrete sidewalk:
• Provide a “cut-through” or ramped surface as indicated on the Addendum drawings.
• Design and construction shall comply with applicable federal accessibility standards (ABAAS) including slope, width, landings, detectable warnings (if required), and cross-slope tolerances.
• Ensure accessible travel routes are maintained in all directions.
2.5 Auxiliary Hydrant Valve
Install one 6-inch gate valve on the hydrant lead:
• Locate in the designated no-parking/loading zone of the asphalt (approximately 2–3 feet off the concrete sidewalk curb).
• Provide valve box, cover, and riser components per the specifications.
• Ensure valve is fully operable and accessible after paving and striping adjustments.
