About this file
This document is an Appendix C specification for bin shelving at Grissom Air Reserve Base (ARB) in Indiana, specifically for Building 209. The detailed technical specification outlines requirements for a shelving system designed to store hand-liftable items, with precise technical specifications for shelf structure, supporting posts, panels, base strips, foot plates, and overall assembly. Key technical requirements include shelf edges with flanged returns, adjustable shelf clips, supporting posts that can be adjusted in 1-1.5 inch increments, back and side panels on all units, and foot plates secured with anchor bolts.
The document also includes quality assurance provisions, specifying that the bin shelving must be inspected to verify compliance with all requirements. A specific test is outlined where maximum loads will be placed randomly in the shelf system for at least four hours, after which the shelving will be examined for deformation. If any component shows plastic or elastic deformation outside approved parameters, the system will fail the test. The project is being managed by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), with the specification dated 16 May 2025 and prepared by James Rowland, a Project Engineer, and reviewed by Josh Payne.
