About this file

This document is an Appendix B containing Sample Shop Test Procedures for a 100 Metric Ton Mobile Boat Hoist for Naval Special Warfare Group 8, to be located at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek in Virginia. The detailed test procedure provides a comprehensive checklist for inspecting and testing various aspects of the mobile boat hoist, including pre-test inspections, equipment monitoring, documentation verification, operational function tests, control function tests, and brake operations.

The test procedure covers extensive checks including engine performance metrics, shutdown feature tests, cab and remote control functionality, load indicators, and brake operations. The document is designed for the Navy Crane Center at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and includes specific verification steps for multiple hoist functions, travel directions, emergency stops, alarms, and key safety systems. The procedure uses a standardized inspection code where testers mark results as Satisfactory (SAT), Unsatisfactory (UNSAT), or Not Applicable (NA) across multiple test categories.

1. PRE-TEST INSPECTIONS

1.1 General

The Mobile Boat Hoist (MBH) shall be tested in accordance with the appropriate paragraphs of this guide. The contractor shall assure all components and features that affect load bearing, load controlling, or operational safety devices of the crane are properly tested. The contractor shall perform all the tests described below as allowed by the actual assembly status of the MBH along with any other tests required to verify that the MBH meets the contract requirements, including any contract modifications.

The contractor shall develop data sheets for tests that require data recording. The data sheets shall include the expected results along with the allowable tolerance in accordance with the requirements of the specification. The sequence of testing shall be at the option of the contractor.

The contractor shall develop an inspection plan that includes the inspections described in the operation and maintenance manual. The inspections shall include, as a minimum, brake data sheets, inspections of structural, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components and systems (i.e. limit switches, engine alarm and shut down systems, load indicating devices etc.) to verify that they are properly adjusted, lubricated, and ready for testing. All inspections and measurements shall be documented as part of the shop test report.

1.2 List of Equipment/Consumables: Calibration Date:

The contractor shall determine the tools, meters, measuring devices, etc. that are required to perform the test and have them available at the site. All equipment shall be calibrated.

1. _______________ Model: _______________ Calibration Date: ________________

2. _______________ Model: _______________ Calibration Date: ________________

4. _______________ Model: _______________ Calibration Date: ________________

1.3 Inspection Codes

For the purpose of this test procedure SAT = Satisfactory, UNSAT = Unsatisfactory, NA= Not applicable.

2. EQUIPMENT MONITORING

During the shop test, check for proper operation and condition of safety devices, electrical components, mechanical equipment, and structural assemblies. Observed defects critical to testing shall be reported immediately to the test director who shall suspend the testing until the deficiency is corrected.

3. DOCUMENTATIONS
