ACQR 5862208 – Solicitation Amendment 2

RFI Questions and Answers

1. How many piles have existing repairs on them, what type of existing repairs are present and are the repairs full or partial length repairs.

Answer: There are not any known repairs to these piles.

2. If the repairs are full length, will we be allowed to remove sections of the repairs to install anode brackets?

Answer: There are not any known repairs to these piles.

3. Does the Navy want the steel jackets protected also?

Answer: Yes

4. Is there any information regarding the annular thickness of these jackets?

Answer: (Per Stephen Meagher) I have seen in the past that they have a greater annular space to compensate for the correlations in the pipe. If we need to make windows to install the anodes directly to the pile, thesis of the window may need to be significantly larger to allow for welding of the brackets if the repair coverage is thicker. Please see drawing detail of the plastic annular jackets.

5. Is there any information available that would tell us if the piles in each of the bents are electrically continuous? The bid document drawings are difficult to view and do not show one way or another if this was so. We would need the original construction drawings to make that determination.

Answer: Contractor is to assume that the piles are not electronically continuous.
