About this file

This is a Limited Asbestos Survey Report prepared by Hina Environmental Solutions for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) facility located at 1365 Old Xenia Road, London, Ohio 43140. The survey was conducted on May 28, 2025, by Brian Walker, an Ohio Asbestos Hazard Evaluation Specialist (ES35451), with authorization from FAA contact Mike Dahle. The survey's purpose was to sample suspicious friable and non-friable building materials for asbestos before planned renovations and demolition activities at the facility.

The survey included bulk sample testing of six samples across three homogeneous material categories: door caulking (exterior), window caulking (exterior), and insulation board (interior). All samples tested negative for asbestos (NAD—No Asbestos Detected), with 100% of materials classified as non-fibrous, non-asbestos containing substances. The laboratory analysis by SanAir Technologies Laboratory (NVLAP accredited, Lab Code 600227-0) confirmed no asbestos was detected in any of the six samples using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) per EPA 600/R-93/116 methodology. The report concludes that no asbestos abatement is required before demolition proceeds. A disclaimer notes that concealed materials beneath floors, above ceilings, or between walls were not accessible for testing, and additional sampling should be requested if other materials are discovered during renovations. The complete laboratory analysis report was received and finalized on June 2, 2025.

Fibers smaller than 5-microns cannot be seen with this method due to scope limitations. Polarized- light microscopy is not consistently reliable in detecting asbestos in floor covering and similar non-friable organically bound materials. Quantitative transmission electron microscopy is currently the only method that can be used to determine if this material can be considered or treated as non-asbestos containing.

Samples are held for a period of 60 days.
